DSWA is seeking to fill a full time Environmental Technician position for landfill gas operations at the Cherry Island Landfill (CIL) located in Wilmington, DE. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
Note: This is a safety sensitive position and requires drug testing as a condition of employment.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to monitor and maintain the landfill gas system in accordance with standard operating procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS: Requires completion of a high school diploma. Must possess a valid drivers license. Knowledge of basic mechanics and heavy equipment. Knowledge of department operations, services, and polices. Knowledge of basic office skills. Skill in gas systems monitoring and testing. Skill in maintaining gas system operation. Skill in Flare System Maintenance and operation. Skill in monitoring equipment and devices related to landfill gas systems. Skill in applying the tools used in creating and modifying spreadsheets and database applications. Ability to operate motor vehicle and traverse rough terrain. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Must possess First Aid and CPR certification. (Certification training provided by DSWA). Ability to work and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Physical Requirements: This position requires standing, walking, sitting, gripping or feeling with hands, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, talking or hearing, tasting or smelling and traversing on rough terrain.
This position may require lifting of up to 50 pounds. This position requires close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more),color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up or down or to the left and right when vision is fixed on a given point),depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships),ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).EOE
